John Wood papers, 1930-2004.

The Papers consist of personal photographs of memorabilia of Wood's family; letters and poems to Wood; manuscript materials and research notes for Secrets of the Dark Chamber; and signed posters from literary events on the McNeese campus. The Papers also include three Robert Olen Butler manuscripts and photographs of Butler's wedding.

Dr. John A. Wood was born on January 2, 1947. He received his bachelor's degree from Arkansas State University and his Master of Fine Arts and Ph.D. from the University of Arkansas. At McNeese, Wood held two professorships: Professor of English (in the Languages Department) and Professor of Photographic History (in the Visual Arts Department). American writer Robert Olen Butler was born January 20, 1945 in the small steel-mill town of Granite City, Illinois. Planning to major in theatre, Butler enrolled at Northwestern University in 1963. He graduated with a B.S. (Summa Cum Laude) in June 1967 and attended graduate school at the University of Iowa, where he received an M.F.A. in playwriting in 1969.
